  • End of Autumn Qtr, starting PhD

Btw end of Autumn quarter grades are as follows:

    Algorithms 3.7
    Honors Senior Research 4.0
Human Computer Interaction 3.0 <-- mistake, will be increased hopefully...
    Virtual Communities 4.0
Graduate Graphics Seminar CR <-- my first official grad course! (credit/no credit)

Next quarter I'm teaching a course! The title is "The Convergence of Culture & Media: What it Means for Games and Entertainment." Officially, I'm not even the TA (yet), but I'll be standing up there doing lectures, creating course material etc.

I will also be taking these classes:

    Human Computer Interaction II
    More Honors Senior Research
Entrepreneurship: Planning for Business Growth <-- invited by the prof!
Honors Natural Science for an Informed Citizen (If we manage to make a black hole in a particle accelerator, will it suck in the Earth? etc.)

In my final quarter, I'm taking Graduate level Operating Systems, Statistics for Computer Science, Advanced Technical Communications, and finishing my Honors Senior Thesis and Research. Then I'm getting a PhD. Woot!

  • Myspace

Why do people use Myspace even when the site is coded so shoddily? Facebook is clearly superior...

  • hair

My hair styled itself today! Too bad the effect is only slightly noticeable in the pictures. The effect in real life is quite awesome, like I had my hair done professionally or something. As a plus, it's potentially zero maintenance, since it can be produced by going to bed with wet hair!

  • There's only about a month before the Siggraph deadline, and I think, at the rate we're working, our team is not going to make anything good enough to get past the paper review step.

Actually, I think Noah, Steve, and Rick (grad student/profs) are going to do something cool, but not let us know about it until the last minute.

  • Shopping

I think, for the first time in my life, I went shopping for a non-food, non-computer related item.

I bought a jacket. It was definitely a learning experience. A six-hour-long learning experience.

I could have used a tutorial or something.

  • Haven't posted in a while

I haven't posted here in a while since most of the posts I think up are more appropriate for my public blog on blogger.

Anyways, I should be really stressed out right now. I'm flying to California for interviews at a certain high tech company, and I haven't really thought of anything to prepare.
I also have a ton of work to do for my class projects and grad school applications before I come back, so I'm going to be working my butt off during the flight over there, during the hotel stay, and during the flight back.

For some reason, I'm not stressed at all. It must be the calm before the storm.

On a different subject: I also just got an email that I should get a girlfriend, and I realized I have been assuming a relationship would just automatically occur. Apparently it doesn't work that way. If anyone has (good, working) advice, send it my way: kevin.gc@gmail.com

  • Undercover Cops

I saw what was possibly the most ghetto undercover cop car crossing the 520 floating bridge the other day: A blue Toyota Carolla, complete with hidden lights and sirens.
